Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis (born on the 3rd April, 1985) is a British singer, songwriter as well as an actress and activist. She was born and raised in London Borough of Islington and was a student at Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis was able to gain international attention after winning The X factor's third season in 2006. The singer also signed a PS1 Million recording contract from Syco Music. Her winner's single, an original cover to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" reached first place for the duration of 4 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke records in the world by achieving 50k digital downloads in thirty minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5-album deal in February. Lewis continued her success with Spirit which was her debut studio album. It reached platinum status 10x accredited in the UK. Spirit became one of the top four albums sold in 2000, as well as one of the top-selling UK albums. Based on the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the most-sold debut album by female singers to date in the 21st century. The album's first single "Bleeding Love" continued to be at the top of the UK charts for seven consecutive weeks and became the top-selling single of 2007. In the US this was the top-selling single in the year and Lewis was named Best New Artist by Billboard the same year. The artist released Echo in 2009 and also created "I See You" for the film's title song. Lewis's track "Collide," was an collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and she also released Hurt: the EP, her first play that was extended. Glassheart (2012) was Lewis' third studio album. It was Lewis her first foray into electronic music , dubstep, and electronic music. She began to record material to her first Christmas album during her Glassheart Tour, which took to the stage in the mid-2013 timeframe. The album Christmas, With Love was released late in 2013. The album's first single, One More Sleep, peaked at number 3 on the charts in the UK. In the wake of this chart, Lewis become the first British woman soloist to reach the top five , with eight singles. She beat Olivia Newton-John's record which was seven.
