Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Her most famous work is the main character in Prince's 1984 Purple Rain film and lead singer in the girl-group Apollonia 6 She was one of several female performers who gained from Prince's collaboration during the 1980s. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter part of the 1970s. This included an appearance on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he changed her name) and was replaced by Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 performing with them in the film with the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, the group's minor hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her biggest chart success. When the two had a disagreement over the direction of her career Apollonia 6 split up and Kotero quit her relationship with Prince. The singer then appeared in few minor films in the late 1980s (reportedly refusing an opportunity to play in the Purple Rain-follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then settled on a night-time role in the dramatic Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia had the opportunity to make her debut album available in 1988. Unfortunately, it did not leave an lasting impression on fans of music and soon faded from the scene. Throughout the decade that followed, she remained an active actress, playing minor roles in films and small TV shows. Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish called Stay with me in 1997.
